Three days is generally not enough for a comfortable Badrinath Darshan from Gurgaon by road. The one-way road distance from Gurgaon to Badrinath is roughly 560 km, and the drive itself takes 13–15 hours because of hilly terrain, landslide-prone stretches, and mandatory overnight halts (usually at Rudraprayag or Srinagar-Garhwal, Uttarakhand).

A genuine three-day plan would mean driving nearly non-stop with almost no rest at the shrine, which is both exhausting and unsafe on mountain roads. Most tour operators recommend a minimum of 5–6 days for a Gurgaon–Badrinath round trip by road, or 4 days if you fly into Dehradun (Jolly Grant Airport) and hire a cab or tempo traveller on rent in Gurgaon from there onward, cutting nearly a full day of driving each way. Families or groups can book a 12 or 20 seater tempo traveller from Gurgaon for the Badrinath trip, since it allows overnight halts, luggage space, and flexible stops at Haridwar, Devprayag, and Rudraprayag en route.

If three days is a hard constraint, consider flying to Dehradun and taking a tempo traveller hire only for the hill portion (Dehradun–Badrinath–Dehradun), which can realistically fit into 3 days, though it will be a fast-paced trip with limited time at the temple itself.

FAQs

Q: What is the ideal duration for Badrinath Darshan from Gurgaon?

A: 5–6 days by road, or 4 days if combined with a flight to Dehradun and a tempo traveller for the hill leg.

Q: Can I do Badrinath in 3 days from Delhi/Gurgaon by flight?

A: Yes, but only by flying to Dehradun and hiring a cab/tempo traveller for a quick Badrinath-only darshan, skipping other Char Dham stops.

Q: Is a tempo traveller good for the Badrinath hill route?

A: Yes, a tempo traveller with an experienced hill driver is a popular, comfortable choice for groups and families on this route.

Indeed, curating a group flight on Azerbaijan Airlines is cheaper than reserving an individual ticket. With this, they can easily enjoy their air trip without exceeding their budget. Moreover, to get the ticket, one has to do Azerbaijan Airlines group booking in advance. Here are more pointers given below:
  • Arrange the air journey on weekdays
  • Choose to travel at the end of the festive months or in the off-season.
  • Curate a group trip to an obscure destination.

I’m planning a group trip around Alberta and would love to hear some recommendations from people who have done this before.

What are the best Alberta road trips for large groups? I’m especially interested in scenic routes and destinations that are worth spending a full day or weekend exploring. Places like Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, the Icefields Parkway, and Drumheller are already on my list, but I’d love to hear about some lesser-known spots too.

For larger groups, what transportation options have worked best for you? Did you rent multiple cars, use a van, or choose a charter bus? I’m also curious about which routes are easiest to manage with a group and where you’d recommend stopping along the way.

Would appreciate any suggestions for routes, attractions, stops, and group-friendly destinations across Alberta.

A few weeks before my trip from the USA to India, my family started discussing whether I should bring some gold jewellery with me. It sounded simple at first. I assumed that if the jewellery was for personal use, I could just pack it in my luggage and travel normally.

Then someone asked me, “Do you actually know how much gold you can carry from USA to India?

That question made me stop. I started checking the Indian Customs rules because I didn't want to arrive at the airport and discover that I had to pay an unexpected duty or explain undeclared jewellery.

What I learned was that the rules depend on things like how long you've stayed outside India, whether you're carrying jewellery or gold in another form, and whether you qualify for the applicable baggage provisions. Under the current rules, an eligible Indian-origin passenger or Indian passport holder who has stayed abroad for at least six months can bring up to 1 kg of gold by paying the applicable customs duty.

There are also separate duty-free jewellery allowances for eligible returning residents who have lived abroad for more than a year. The current 2026 provisions allow up to 40 grams for a female passenger and 20 grams for other passengers, subject to the applicable conditions.

My biggest takeaway was not to assume that “personal jewellery” automatically means duty-free. If you're planning to travel with gold from the USA to India, check your eligibility and declare anything that needs to be declared. It is much easier than dealing with a customs problem after landing.

I’ve been exploring more of Alberta lately and would love to discover some places that don’t usually make the typical travel lists. Whether it’s a quiet hiking spot, a scenic lake, a small town, a great local café, or a beautiful viewpoint, I’m interested in hearing about the places you personally recommend.

What’s one hidden gem in Alberta that you think more people should know about? And what makes it special?
