Caribbean Tourist Attractions & Best Places to Visit

Explore the best Caribbean tourist attractions and places to visit, from tropical beaches and waterfalls to historic towns, rainforests and island escapes.

Best Caribbean Tourist Attractions & Places to Visit

The Caribbean is one of the world's most popular holiday regions, famous for its beautiful beaches, warm tropical climate, clear blue seas, colourful towns and relaxed island atmosphere. But there is far more to a Caribbean holiday than simply spending time on the beach.

Across the islands you can discover waterfalls, rainforests, historic towns, volcanic landscapes, coral reefs, local markets and distinctive Caribbean food and culture. Every island offers something slightly different, making the Caribbean suitable for everything from relaxing beach holidays and cruises to adventure trips, family holidays and romantic escapes.

If you are planning a Caribbean holiday, here are some of the attractions and destinations worth considering.

Seven Mile Beach, Jamaica

Seven Mile Beach is one of Jamaica's best-known stretches of coastline. Located around Negril, it is famous for soft sand, warm Caribbean water and spectacular sunsets.

Visitors can spend the day swimming, relaxing on the beach or enjoying activities such as snorkelling and water sports. Negril is also well known for its relaxed atmosphere and beachfront restaurants and bars.

Dunn's River Falls, Jamaica

Dunn's River Falls is one of Jamaica's most recognisable natural attractions.

The spectacular waterfall cascades down a series of natural terraces towards the Caribbean Sea. Visitors can climb sections of the falls, swim in natural pools or simply enjoy the surrounding tropical scenery.

It is a popular excursion for people staying around Ocho Rios and for cruise passengers visiting Jamaica.

Bathsheba Beach, Barbados

Bathsheba Beach on the east coast of Barbados offers a completely different experience from the calm beaches found elsewhere on the island.

The coastline is known for dramatic rock formations, powerful Atlantic waves and rugged tropical scenery.

The area is particularly popular with surfers, photographers and travellers wanting to experience a quieter side of Barbados.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Barbados is not only about beaches.

The island's capital, Bridgetown, provides an opportunity to explore Caribbean history and architecture while experiencing everyday island life.

Visitors can explore historic buildings, shopping areas and waterfront locations before travelling elsewhere on the island to discover beaches, villages and local restaurants.

The Pitons, St Lucia

The Pitons are two dramatic volcanic peaks rising above the southwest coast of St Lucia and have become one of the Caribbean's most recognisable landscapes.

Gros Piton and Petit Piton dominate the coastline around Soufrière and provide an impressive backdrop to nearby beaches and resorts.

The surrounding area is also known for rainforest scenery, hiking opportunities, waterfalls and volcanic landscapes.

El Yunque Rainforest, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico offers an interesting combination of Caribbean beaches, history and tropical wilderness.

El Yunque is a lush rainforest filled with tropical vegetation, mountain scenery, walking trails and waterfalls.

It is particularly popular with travellers who want to combine a Caribbean beach holiday with hiking and nature.

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

Old San Juan is one of the most interesting historic areas in the Caribbean.

Its colourful buildings, cobbled streets, plazas and historic fortifications provide a very different experience from Puerto Rico's beaches and resorts.

Visitors can spend hours walking through the old streets, discovering shops, restaurants and historic buildings.

Maho Beach, St Maarten

Maho Beach has become famous around the world because of its unusual location directly beside Princess Juliana International Airport.

Aircraft approaching the airport pass extremely low over the beach before landing, creating one of the Caribbean's most unusual sightseeing experiences.

Although the aircraft are the main attraction, visitors should always follow local safety instructions and keep a sensible distance from airport boundaries.

Beaches and Culture in Cuba

Cuba offers travellers an unusual combination of Caribbean beaches, historic cities, music, architecture and culture.

Havana is especially well known for its colourful streets, historic buildings and classic cars, while destinations such as Varadero attract visitors looking for traditional beach holidays.

Travelling around the country can reveal a very different side of the Caribbean compared with resort-focused islands.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Punta Cana is one of the Caribbean's major resort destinations and is particularly popular with travellers looking for an easy beach holiday.

The region is known for long sandy beaches, warm water and a large selection of resorts.

Travellers interested in culture and history can also explore other areas of the Dominican Republic, including the historic parts of Santo Domingo.

Beaches and Marine Life in the Bahamas

The Bahamas consists of hundreds of islands and cays surrounded by remarkably clear water.

The destination is particularly popular for boating, snorkelling, diving, fishing and beach holidays.

Travellers willing to explore beyond the major resorts can discover smaller islands, quieter beaches and some excellent marine environments.

Aruba and Curaçao

Aruba and Curaçao are popular Caribbean destinations for travellers looking for sunshine, beaches and water activities.

Aruba is particularly known for its sandy beaches and dry climate, while Curaçao combines attractive beaches with colourful architecture and excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities.

Both islands offer a slightly different landscape and atmosphere from the greener Caribbean islands.

Dominica

Travellers looking for nature and adventure rather than large beach resorts may want to consider Dominica.

The island is known for its mountainous landscape, tropical rainforest, rivers, waterfalls and hiking trails.

It is an excellent Caribbean destination for travellers interested in walking, wildlife, photography and outdoor activities.

Which Caribbean Island Should You Visit?

There is no single Caribbean island that will suit everyone.

For a traditional beach holiday, destinations such as Barbados, Jamaica, Aruba, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic offer plenty of choice.

Travellers interested in history and culture may prefer Puerto Rico or Cuba, while St Lucia and Dominica are particularly attractive for scenery, hiking and nature.

Cruise holidays can also be a good way of experiencing several Caribbean islands during one trip before deciding which destinations you would like to return to for a longer stay.

Planning a Caribbean Holiday

Before choosing where to stay, think about what you want from your holiday.

Some travellers want quiet beaches and resorts, while others prefer nightlife, diving, hiking, sightseeing or local culture. The atmosphere can vary considerably between different islands and even between different parts of the same island.

Weather and seasonal conditions are also worth considering when deciding when to travel, particularly during the Caribbean hurricane season.

Researching your destination before booking can help you choose the island, resort and time of year that best match the type of Caribbean holiday you want.

Share Your Caribbean Travel Tips

Have you travelled to the Caribbean?

Which island would you recommend for a first-time visitor? Perhaps you have discovered a particularly good beach, restaurant, resort, cruise port, diving location or attraction that other travellers should know about.

Share your Caribbean travel experiences, questions, recommendations and photographs with the forum4travel community.

Whether you are planning your first Caribbean holiday or have visited the islands many times, your experiences could help another traveller plan their next trip.

Hi everyone!

I’m planning a trip to Greece and would love some recommendations for its most beautiful beaches. I’ve seen pictures of crystal-clear turquoise waters, golden sands, and stunning coastal landscapes, but I’m not sure which destinations are truly worth visiting.

Are places like Navagio Beach, Elafonissi Beach, or Myrtos Beach as amazing in person as they look online?

I’d also appreciate suggestions for beaches that are less crowded, family-friendly, or ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

Which Greek beaches would you recommend for a memorable vacation, and what time of year is best to visit them?

Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is a great choice for travellers who want to experience wildlife away from crowded tourist destinations. Located in Uttar Pradesh, it is known for its green forests, grasslands, rivers, and rich wildlife. The reserve is home to Bengal tigers, leopards, deer, and many species of birds, making it an exciting destination for nature lovers and photographers.

One of the main reasons to visit is the chance to explore the beautiful Terai landscape and enjoy a peaceful jungle safari. If you are wondering why Pilibhit Tiger Reserve should be on your wildlife travel list, its natural beauty and diverse wildlife make it worth considering. You can also visit Chuka Beach, a scenic spot near the reserve, to enjoy the calm surroundings. Plan your trip during the suitable safari season for a memorable wildlife experience with family or friends.

Making a group trip to the Canadian Rockies easier is less about planning every minute and more about making a few smart decisions before leaving. Here are five things that can make a real difference:

1. Decide what everyone actually wants to see.
Not everyone will have the same priorities. Some people may want mountain views and photography, while others might prefer short walks or exploring towns. Agreeing on a few must see places beforehand avoids unnecessary debates during the trip.

2. Don't try to fit everything into one day.
Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper all have plenty to explore. Instead of rushing through every stop, leave some free time for unexpected viewpoints, coffee breaks, and those places you discover along the way.

3. Sort out transportation before the trip.
Getting 15 to 20 people to follow the same schedule in separate cars can become complicated. Compare the cost and convenience of driving separately with a charter bus for group travel. Go Coach Charters is one option for groups travelling around Alberta, although the right choice depends on your group size, itinerary, and budget. Before making a decision, take some time to research different transportation options rather than booking in a hurry. Look for something that fits your group's actual needs, whether that's comfortable seating, enough space for everyone, or a convenient travel schedule. In my case, these were the things I was looking for like comfortable seats ,washrooms,wi-fi and many more things , which is why I choose Go Coach Charters for my group trip. You can choose according to your requirements.

4. Give one person responsibility for the basic logistics.
You don't need one person making every decision, but having someone keep track of bookings, meeting points, departure times, and important details can save everyone a lot of confusion. A shared group chat works well for this.

5. Make Time for the Little Moments
Some of the best memories happen when you don't have to rush to the next stop. Leave time for photos, scenic breaks, and changes in the weather, especially when exploring mountain destinations.

For me, the biggest thing is making sure the journey feels like part of the holiday rather than just a way to reach the destination.

What has helped you most when travelling with a large group in the Canadian Rockies?

Don't miss the Ao Dai photoshoot experience!Traveling to Hoi An without taking photos in a traditional Ao Dai is a huge missed opportunity. Instead of renting a random, uncomfortable outfit at the tourist markets, I highly recommend visiting Forest For The Trees.

This place is not just a photography studio but a real treasure trove with over 400 high-quality Ao Dai designs available for rent or purchase. They even offer custom tailoring! The fabric quality and fit are absolutely beautiful. You can also book their "Photo Plan" which includes a professional photographer who will guide you on how to pose naturally around the heritage town. Additionally, they offer family and casual photoshoots right at your resort's garden. It’s an incredibly worthwhile experience to capture memories of your trip.

I’ll buy you a flight ticket if you can find a bug on my travel website

Hey everyone,

I’ve recently launched a travel website and I’d love to get some honest feedback from people who enjoy testing websites and finding things that might be broken or confusing.

I’m offering a simple challenge:

If you can find a genuine bug on my website, I’ll buy you a flight ticket as a reward.

You can test things like:

  • Broken links or pages
  • Search and flight-related features
  • Mobile responsiveness
  • Forms and buttons
  • Navigation issues
  • Unexpected errors
  • Anything else that clearly doesn’t work as intended
Website: https://flightskynet.com/

I’m especially interested in bugs that I may have missed during testing, so don’t be afraid to dig around.

If you find something, comment below or send me a message with a description of the issue and, if possible, a screenshot or screen recording showing how to reproduce it.

Please don’t attempt anything destructive or access other users’ data. I’m only looking for legitimate bugs that can be reproduced safely.

Let’s see what you can find!

No matter how experienced you are, international travel always requires careful planning. I've learned that creating a checklist before departure saves a lot of stress and helps avoid last-minute surprises.

Here are a few things I always make sure are ready:

  • Passport with sufficient validity
  • Visa and supporting documents
  • Travel insurance
  • Flight and hotel confirmations
  • Digital and printed copies of important paperwork
  • Local currency and payment cards
  • Emergency contacts and itinerary
  • Power adapters and essential medications

Every country has different entry requirements, so it's worth checking the latest regulations before you travel. Good preparation allows you to spend more time enjoying your destination instead of worrying about paperwork.

For anyone who needs assistance with visa documentation, document attestation, certified translations, or other travel-related paperwork, Satti Services is a helpful resource to explore before planning an international journey.

Off-beat summer vacations in India offer unique experiences away from the usual tourist crowds. Consider exploring the hidden gems of Northeast India like Meghalaya's living root bridges or Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang Monastery. Dive into the tranquility of Uttarakhand's lesser-known hill stations such as Chopta or Munsiyari, perfect for trekking and nature lovers. Or head to the lesser-explored regions of Karnataka like Gokarna for pristine beaches and laid-back vibes. Kerala's Wayanad district also offers off-beat adventures with its lush green landscapes and tribal culture, ideal for a serene summer getaway.

Hey everyone, planning a short trip to Himachal with a few friends and we’re thinking of camping in Bir Billing instead of a regular hotel. We just want a relaxed getaway: good views, time outdoors, and a break from the usual routine.

I came across Tatva Bir Resorts and they seem to welcome groups, friends and families who want to enjoy the nature around Bir Billing. Has anyone camped there or somewhere nearby? How was the experience, and is there anything I should carry or know before going?

Any tips would help. Thanks! ️
