Consider visiting places like the Bardini Gardens, the Stibbert Museum, and the Oltrarno district. These spots offer a more local and less touristy experience of Florence.
Florence is famous for its amazing tourist attractions, such as the Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery, but there are other lesser-known treasures worth exploring. Here are some off-the-beaten-path attractions in Florence:
Bardini grounds: These lovely grounds provide incredible views of Florence, fewer tourists, and a perfect environment for a relaxing walk.
Le Murate: Originally a convent and then a jail, Le Murate is today a cultural center with cafes, bars, and art shows. It's a one-of-a-kind place to experience Florence's lively cultural scene.
San Miniato al Monte: This hilltop church is one of Florence's oldest and provides an amazing view of the city. It is more serene than other tourist attractions.
Museo di San Marco: This museum, built in a former monastery, contains masterpieces by Renaissance painter Fra Angelico. It's an ideal location for viewing amazing paintings.
The Brancacci Chapel: Located in the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine, Brancacci Chapel houses amazing artwork by Masaccio and Masolino. It's less crowded, but still really impressive.
Piazza Santo Spirito: This busy area is a local favorite, with markets, cafes, and bars. It's an excellent location for enjoying the local atmosphere away from the main tourist attractions.
I agree with those suggestions — especially the Oltrarno area. It’s one of the best places in Florence if you want to see a more local side of the city, with artisan workshops, small cafés, and a slower atmosphere compared to the crowded historic center.
Another place I personally enjoy is Giardino Bardini. The views of Florence from there are amazing, and it’s usually much quieter than Boboli Gardens.
The Stibbert Museum is also very unique if you like something different — it has a fascinating collection of armor and historical artifacts that many visitors don’t even know about.

Florence has so many hidden corners beyond the famous landmarks, and wandering a bit away from the main tourist routes often leads to the best discoveries.
