Is a Wine Tour from Florence Worth It or Better to Stay in Wine Region?

My wife and I are planning a trip to Florence this fall, and one of the things we’re most excited about is experiencing the Tuscan wine region — especially Chianti and maybe even Brunello.

We’ll be traveling with our teenage daughter, so we’re trying to plan something that’s enjoyable but not too rushed. We’ll already be staying in Florence for several days, but we’re debating whether it’s worth spending a night or two in a smaller wine town, or if doing a day wine tour from Florence would be just as good.

Part of us thinks staying overnight somewhere in the countryside might feel more authentic, but at the same time moving hotels with a kid isn’t always the easiest.

For those who have done both — what did you find more enjoyable or memorable? Is a day tour from Florence enough to really experience the wine region, or is it better to stay in Chianti or near Montalcino for a night?

Would love to hear your experiences.
