Hi everyone,

I've noticed quite a few questions here about Vietnam entry requirements, so I put together a quick summary of recent updates that might help with trip planning:

1. E-visa

  • Available to citizens of many countries, fully online application
  • Processing usually takes about 3 business days — apply at least a week ahead to be safe
  • Valid for entry through multiple checkpoints (air, land, and sea)

2. Visa exemption

  • Citizens of certain countries can enter visa-free for a limited period (usually 15–45 days depending on nationality)
  • Important: visa-free entry doesn't mean you can extend your stay — overstaying is a common (and costly) mistake

3. Common application mistakes

  • Blurry or cropped passport photos leading to rejected applications
  • Entering the wrong intended arrival date (the e-visa validity starts from the issue date, not the arrival date)
  • Selecting the wrong entry checkpoint that doesn't match the actual flight/ticket

4. Visa on Arrival (VOA)

  • Only valid for entry by air
  • Requires an approval letter obtained before boarding

If anyone wants to quickly check whether their nationality needs a visa, or wants to follow the latest policy changes, I usually check here: vietnamvisaeasy.com (they have a handy country-lookup table).

Anyone else had a funny or frustrating visa mishap when entering Vietnam? Would love to hear your stories

Hi everyone,
I'm always on the lookout for great local coffee shops whenever I'm exploring Calgary. While it's easy to find the popular chains, I'd love to hear about the independent cafés that locals keep going back to.What are your favorite coffee shops in Calgary, and what makes them special? Is it the coffee itself, the atmosphere, friendly staff, fresh pastries, or a great place to work or relax?

I'd especially love recommendations for places with:

  • Excellent espresso or pour-over coffee
  • Fresh baked goods
  • Cozy seating
  • Unique local character
Looking forward to hearing your favorites and discovering a few new spots on my next visit. Thanks in advance !

Planning an Andaman trip from Central India usually depends on the season, hotel type, and how many days you want to stay. From what I checked while planning my own vacation, a normal 5–6 day package can cost anywhere between ₹22,000 to ₹45,000 per person including flights, hotel, ferry transfers, and sightseeing. Flight prices make the biggest difference, especially if you are traveling from cities like Bhopal, Nagpur, or Raipur. I noticed that booking early saved a good amount on airfare. There are many travel companies offering andaman and nicobar tour packages with different inclusions, so comparing 2–3 options is always helpful before booking. If your budget is limited, avoid peak holiday months because rates go much higher. I personally feel mid-season trips give the best value and less crowd too. Hope this helps with your planning.

Hi! If this is your first trip to Goa, you're in for a great experience. A lot of people think Goa is only about beaches and nightlife, but there's actually much more to explore.

My first suggestion is to decide whether you want to stay in North Goa or South Goa. North Goa is ideal if you enjoy lively beaches, water sports, cafés, markets, and nightlife. South Goa, on the other hand, is quieter and better suited for couples, families, or anyone looking to relax by peaceful beaches.

If you have 4–5 days, try to experience both sides of Goa. Besides the beaches, I'd recommend visiting Old Goa's historic churches, taking a sunset cruise on the Mandovi River, exploring local markets, and trying authentic Goan seafood or vegetarian specialties.

If you're visiting between November and February, you'll generally enjoy pleasant weather and a lively atmosphere. The monsoon season (June to September) is also a best time to visit Goa if you love lush green landscapes and don't mind occasional rain.

If you're comparing Goa tour packages, don't just look at the price. Check whether airport transfers, hotel location, sightseeing, breakfast, and local transportation are included. Sometimes a slightly higher-priced package offers much better value and saves you from arranging everything separately.

If you're planning your itinerary or have questions about beaches, accommodation areas, or the best places to eat, feel free to ask. Happy to help!

Hello everyone, I’ve found this forum to be very helpful. You have pointed out the many mistakes I’ve made planning my previous trip andfor the most part I have listened and improved my previous travel plans. For that I am grateful and that’s why i have returned. I’m planning an even more ambitious trip and would like your advice, please. So far I have only purchased and/or reserved a few things. I have a one way ticket from Los Angeles to Amsterdam. I don’t have a return flight. At the moment The only hotel I plan on booking before arriving in Europe will be the first few days in Amsterdam September 6 to 9, and Munich September 20 to 23 because the prices and low availability because of Oktoberfest.

For the rest of the trip, I want to try and travel as freely as possible. That way I am not constrained to a time limit in each location. My goal is to travel as I please spending as much time as I like in each region without feeling rushed and if I spent too much time in one region, at the same time I obviously I won’t have enough time for other later regions if I overstay the earlier ones, because I do not want to stay in Europe much longer than four weeks, and of course money is not unlimited. I’m hoping that there will be plenty of availability and most of the places excluding Munich because I’m assuming September will be much less busy therefore hotels will not be fully booked.

I plan on using public transportation, etc. from Amsterdam until the Rhine River area where I will pick up a rental car from SixT and then return it immediately when I arrive in Munich and then pick it up again a few days later when I’m leaving Munich and then I will keep the car until I arrive in Venice, Italy, where I will spend my last three or four days without the car

Speaking of how much time I will spend in each region, I didn’t add number of days or dates next to most of the regions because I don’t want to limit myself, but I do have an idea of how long I will stay in each region based off some research I did, but I am open to suggestions and recommendations. I am open to changes of all kinds. Open to any and all advice.

That is why I am here because I respect your opinions and trust your advice. Thank you in advance.

I had an early morning flight a few weeks ago and packed a few chocolate bars in my carry-on because I wanted something to snack on during the journey. Just before heading to the airport, I suddenly wondered, can you bring chocolate on a plane, or would airport security ask me to throw it away?

I looked it up before leaving and found that solid chocolate is generally allowed in both carry-on and checked luggage. That gave me some peace of mind, and sure enough, I went through security without any issues.

The only thing I paid attention to was keeping the chocolate in its original packaging and packing it where it wouldn't melt or get crushed. It arrived in perfect condition.

If you're traveling soon and have the same question, don't overthink it like I did. Just make sure you're carrying solid chocolate, check the food rules if you're flying internationally, and pack it carefully.

Has anyone here ever had a different experience bringing chocolate on a plane, especially on international flights? I'd be interested to hear if customs or airport security ever asked about it.
