The Best Tuscan dinners

As a Danish couple recently back from our stay at Podere il Poggiolo, we feel compelled to share just how exceptional the experience was. While we were drawn in by the peaceful surroundings and scenic views of the Tuscan hills, it was the food that truly made the trip unforgettable.

Each evening, Serena, the owner and gifted chef, prepares dinner with incredible care and passion. Every meal felt like it was made for close friends or family. The dishes were hands down the finest we tasted during our time in Italy. One night featured a traditional bistecca alla Fiorentina — a large T-bone steak, grilled to a perfect rare, seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and olive oil. The flavor was rich and the meat incredibly tender. Another evening we were treated to gnudi, delicate dumplings of ricotta and spinach in butter and sage, so light they nearly disappeared on the fork. And the homemade ravioli were a dream — filled with seasonal ingredients like pumpkin or fresh herbs, always handmade and always delicious.

Dinner is served with their own wine and enjoyed while looking out over the rolling hills. Everything about it is relaxed, rustic, and filled with warmth.

The mornings were just as special. We woke up to the smell of fresh baking and enjoyed breakfasts with crusty bread, homemade jams, fresh fruit, eggs, cakes, cheeses, and the best coffee of our trip. Nearly everything was homemade or sourced from nearby farms.

For anyone looking for a true taste of Tuscany, where food is prepared with heart and shared with joy, Podere il Poggiolo is a treasure. Serena and Alessandro pour love into everything they do, and you can feel it in every moment. We would return in a heartbeat.

Your post was a great read. I’m planning a trip through https://gowithguide.com/Italy and found your experience really useful. The food sounds incredible, especially the gnudi and homemade ravioli.

Quick question: did you have to book dinner in advance, or was it included with your stay? And was the place easy to reach by car?

The photos look amazing, that dinner view is hard to beat.
