I talked to a friend who spent three days in Bruges last spring. She said she almost didn't go thought it would be "just another European city." By day two, she was sitting by a canal eating a waffle, watching boats drift past medieval towers, and rethinking every trip she'd taken before.

That's Belgium for you.

The most visited places

Brussels - Grand-Place, Atomium, Manneken Pis, the Royal Museums, and the Comic Book Museum. It also serves as the base for many EU institutions, so diplomats and tourists share the same streets. trip

Bruges - Medieval streets, chocolate shops on every corner, boat tours through the canals. It gets crowded in summer but still delivers.

Ghent - Slightly less touristy than Bruges but equally beautiful. Gravensteen castle, the Graslei waterfront, great local food.

Antwerp - The fashion capital of Belgium. Also home to the MAS museum and the stunning Central Station building.

Ypres (Ieper) - The In Flanders Fields Museum here focuses on WWI soldier experiences. Moving, important, and often overlooked.
A friend once had a one-day layover in Brussels. She missed her flight on purpose. Went back twice after that.

Belgium is that kind of place.

For flights from the US, travel to Belgium is a solid starting point multiple cities, flexible options.
