One Day in North York

If you find yourself near the North York area in Toronto, don’t just spend all your time in the library. North York is one of the most culturally diverse parts of the city, with plenty to see.

Here is my suggested itinerary for a perfect day:
  • Morning: Step Back in Time. Start your day at Black Creek Pioneer Village. It’s a massive open-air museum where you can see what Ontario looked like in the 19th century—perfect for photography.
  • Lunch: A Global Food Tour. Head over to the area near Pioneer Village station. You’ll find some of the best authentic Persian and Korean restaurants in the entire GTA (Greater Toronto Area).
  • Afternoon: Explore the "Hidden City". If it’s a typical cold Canadian day, explore the York University tunnel system. It’s a fascinating network of underground paths that connects the major academic buildings.
  • Evening: Modern North York. Take the TTC Subway Line 1 down to North York Centre. It’s a vibrant hub with great bubble tea shops, cinemas, and a very modern urban vibe.
Pro Travel Tip: For anyone visiting for more than a few days, the area around the university is a practical place to stay because of the direct subway access to downtown.
