Seeing a lot of questions about Vietnam travel budgets lately. I’m an expat living here, and here is the current pricing reality for a 2-week trip covering Hanoi to HCMC.
Accommodation:
Cheap hostels are $5-10. Good private hotels start at $25. Check Agoda for best rates in Asia.
Food:
A street food meal (Pho, Bahn Mi) is $1-2. Restaurants with AC are $5-10. Local beer is cheaper than water ($0.50).
Transport:
Sleeper buses are $10-15. Domestic flights (Vietjet/Vietnam Airlines) range from $30-$80 one way. Always use Grab for taxis in cities.
Activities:
Most expensive will be the Ha Long Bay Cruise. Expect to pay $150+ for a safe, mid-range boat. Don't go for the $60 cheap options, they are dangerous.
Extras to budget for:
E-Visa ($25), SIM Card ($10), Laundry ($1/kg), and Insurance.
