Hi everyone! Former UK student turned traveler saying hello

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to drop a quick intro since I’ve been reading the forums for a bit.

I caught the travel bug a few years ago when I was living in the UK as an international student. I think I spent more of my student loan on train tickets exploring the country than I did on textbooks!

Nowadays, I work remotely/freelance, which allows me to keep traveling. I still have a huge soft spot for the UK and find myself going back quite often to visit friends in various university towns (and to get my fix of Fish & Chips).

I love finding hidden gems, figuring out public transport in new cities, and finding ways to travel on a reasonable budget.

Looking forward to swapping tips with you all!

Cheers!

Welcome to Forum4Travel Leslie! Great to have you here.

It sounds like you’ve already had some brilliant travel experiences, and studying in the UK is certainly a good excuse to explore as much of the country as possible. Train tickets instead of textbooks sounds like money well spent!

Your experience with budget travel, public transport and finding places away from the usual tourist trail should be really useful to other members. Feel free to share some of your favourite UK hidden gems and any tips you’ve picked up from working remotely while travelling.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum and hearing about your travels.

Welcome aboard! ✈️
