Best Places to Visit in India During the Monsoon Season

Many travelers avoid India during the monsoon season, but the rainy months can actually be one of the most beautiful times to explore the country. Landscapes become greener, waterfalls come alive, and popular destinations are often less crowded.

Some of my favorite places to visit during monsoon include:

1. Udaipur, Rajasthan
The City of Lakes looks stunning when the surrounding hills turn green and the lakes are full.

2. Munnar, Kerala
Tea plantations covered in mist create spectacular scenery during the rainy season.

3. Coorg, Karnataka
Known for coffee plantations, waterfalls, and lush greenery.

4. Valley of Flowers, Uttarakhand
One of the best monsoon destinations, famous for its colorful alpine flowers.

5. Goa
A different side of Goa emerges during monsoon, with fewer tourists and beautiful natural landscapes.

6. Lonavala, Maharashtra
Popular for waterfalls, viewpoints, and pleasant weather.

7. Shillong, Meghalaya
One of the wettest regions in India, offering dramatic waterfalls and lush scenery.

What are your favorite places to visit in India during the monsoon season?

I completely agree! If you enjoy greenery, waterfalls, and pleasant weather, the monsoon can actually be a wonderful time to explore India. Munnar and Coorg are definitely among my favourites because the tea plantations and coffee estates look even more beautiful during the rainy season. Lonavala is also a great option for a short monsoon getaway.

I was recently looking into Asian destinations to visit during rainy season, and it’s really interesting to see how different the rainy-season experience can be across various countries. From India’s lush green landscapes to other beautiful destinations across Asia, travelling during the rainy season can offer a completely different experience. Shillong and the Valley of Flowers would definitely be on my list too!
