For a first visit to Seoul, I would avoid trying to cover neighborhoods on opposite sides of the city in one day. A simple route that moves in one direction is much easier:
1. Gyeongbokgung Palace — arrive in the morning before the grounds become busy. Allow about 1.5–2 hours if you want to see more than the main courtyard.
2. Bukchon Hanok Village — walk from the palace area, but remember that this is a residential neighborhood. Keep voices low and avoid blocking doorways for photos.
3. Insadong — a practical lunch stop for Korean food, tea houses and traditional shops. The main street is easy to walk, while the smaller lanes are usually more interesting.
4. Myeongdong — continue here for shopping, street food and easy access to the next stop. It is busiest in the evening, so arriving in the late afternoon works well.
5. N Seoul Tower — finish around sunset if the weather is clear. Check visibility before going up; on a hazy day, spending more time in the neighborhoods may be better than paying for the observatory.
A few practical tips:
• Wear comfortable shoes because the route still includes a lot of walking.
• Save Korean place names in Naver Map or KakaoMap rather than relying only on Google Maps.
• Do not schedule a fixed tower time immediately after the palace; queues and meal times vary.
• If you prefer a slower day, drop either Myeongdong or the tower.
