2. Bukchon Hanok Village — walk from the palace area, but remember that this is a residential neighborhood. Keep voices low and avoid blocking doorways for photos.

3. Insadong — a practical lunch stop for Korean food, tea houses and traditional shops. The main street is easy to walk, while the smaller lanes are usually more interesting.

4. Myeongdong — continue here for shopping, street food and easy access to the next stop. It is busiest in the evening, so arriving in the late afternoon works well.

5. N Seoul Tower — finish around sunset if the weather is clear. Check visibility before going up; on a hazy day, spending more time in the neighborhoods may be better than paying for the observatory.
