Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau.
The Vietnam Cycling Tours team will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi. We’ll start our journey to Mai Chau early in the morning, and the drive is simply breathtaking. From the summit of Cun Mountain, you can take in the panoramic view of Mai Chau’s lush green valley with its charming stilt houses dotting the landscape. We’ll have an early lunch at Poom Coong village before we embark on our cycling adventure. We’ll ride on a combination of well-maintained single-track paths and undulating rough jeep trails, taking us to the Thai village of Cun Pheo. Along the way, you’ll be treated to remarkable views as we pass through villages, hot springs, suspension bridges, and picturesque rice paddies. We’ll spend the night in Mai Chau.

Day 2: Mai Chau – Yen Cat.
We’ll kick off the day early to beat the heat. Our journey will lead us away from the river, taking us through a range of mountains stretching from Mai Chau to Cuc Phuong to Hoa Lu. You’ll have ample opportunities for stunning photos with the ever-present and majestic Karst limestone cliffs and abundant lush vegetation. Although we’ll be on a paved road, the terrain can be a bit challenging due to its rolling nature. At Ngoc Lac, we’ll board a bus to transfer to Nhu Xuan, giving our tired legs a rest. We’ll spend the night in a local hotel in Nhu Xuan.

Day 3: Yen Cat – Vinh.
Today, our ride will take us on the newly constructed two-lane Ho Chi Minh Highway. Despite light traffic, this road provides a smooth and fast cycling experience. For those who prefer it, there’s also the older gravel highway that meanders alongside the new one, offering plenty of exploration opportunities. A must-see along the route is the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh in Kim Lien village. This province has a history of producing charismatic revolutionary leaders; not only was Ho Chi Minh born here, but also Phan Boi Chau, another fervent anti-colonialist. From Kim Lien, we’ll likely transfer to Vinh city by bus or car.

Day 4: Vinh – Huong Khe.
After breakfast, our shuttle will take us back to the Ho Chi Minh Highway. We’ll disembark at Pho Chau, where our cycling adventure begins. Today’s roads wind their way through lush jungles and picturesque villages nestled in the shadow of the historic Truong Son Mountain range. By day’s end, we’ll reach Huong Khe, a remote town in Nghe An province. We’ll spend the night in a standard guesthouse.

Day 5: Huong Khe – Phong Nha National Park.
After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll continue our journey on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. From Huong Khe, the mountains rise majestically, and the road winds along the hillsides. The scenery is breathtaking, and the road peaceful. We’ll cycle up to 80km and then transfer to Phong Nha National Park. The park is home to one of Vietnam’s most spectacular caves, which was formed around 250 million years ago and served as a hospital and ammunition depot during the war. The entrance still bears the marks of aircraft attacks. There are ongoing community projects with Flora and Fauna International, and you may have the opportunity to visit village initiatives and learn more about the forests. We’ll spend the night in a standard National Park Guest House.

Day 6: Phong Nha National Park – Dong Hoi.
After breakfast, we’ll visit the magnificent Phong Nha cave by boat and explore the cavern, passing by ancient Cham ruins. The stalactites and stalagmites here are awe-inspiring. Exploring the cave typically takes a few hours, after which we’ll return to the hotel. We’ll then hop back on our bikes and head toward the charming town of Dong Hoi.

Day 7: Dong Hoi – Khe Sanh.
For a brief detour from the Ho Chi Minh highway, we’ll drive approximately 100km along a flat stretch of Highway 1 to visit the Vinh Moc Tunnels. These 2.8km tunnels served as a refuge for the Vietnamese during heavy bombardments by American troops during the Vietnam War. Just 30km from Dong Ha, we’ll resume our cycling journey across the DMZ, better known as the 17th Parallel. The road is mostly flat and perfect for cruising. Along the way, you’ll pass by remnants from the war, ultimately reaching the Vietnam/Laos border town of Khe Sanh, where some of the most intense battles of the war took place. We’ll spend the night in a hotel in Khe Sanh.

Day 8: Khe Sanh – A Luoi.
After exploring Khe Sanh, we’ll begin our ride on H9 to Dakrong Bridge, then turn onto the southern section of the HCM Trail. This will lead us into the mountains along a remote and extraordinary road to the small town of A Luoi. The route takes us through dense forests and stunning landscapes. A Luoi is home to various ethnic minorities and is known for the historic Hamburger Hill.

Day 9: A Luoi – Hue.
Following breakfast, we’ll leave the HCM Trail for good and cycle 60km to reach Hue. The ride is relatively easy as the terrain is mostly flat. You’ll pass through charming villages, lush jungles, and alongside rivers. Our ride concludes at Bach Ho Bridge, and we’ll take a short bus ride for the last 12km into Hue.

Day 10: Hue – Hai Van Pass – Hoi An.
Today, we head south to Hoi An, crossing the famous Hai Van Pass, often called the ‘Pass of the Ocean Clouds.’ Our journey will take us via Lang Co Beach, where we’ll conquer a couple of 2km climbs before enjoying a thrilling descent covering 20 kilometers. Upon reaching Da Nang, we’ll wrap up the cycling portion of our adventure and switch to a comfortable vehicle for a 60-minute transfer to Hoi An.

Planning a trip to Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka is a beautiful island with golden beaches, scenic train journeys, ancient cultural sites, wildlife safaris, tea plantations, and beautiful mountain landscapes. Whether you're visiting for a short holiday or a longer adventure, planning your itinerary and transportation in advance can make your trip much easier.

Getting Around Sri Lanka

There are several ways to explore Sri Lanka, depending on your budget and travel style:

  • Private drivers: Convenient for travelling between cities, visiting multiple attractions, and enjoying a flexible itinerary.
  • Trains: A scenic option for routes through the hill country, particularly around Kandy and Ella.
  • Buses: An affordable way to travel between many towns and cities.
  • Tuk-tuks: Useful for short journeys and exploring local areas.
If you prefer a private driver, compare prices, check recent customer reviews, confirm what's included in the fare, and agree on your itinerary before booking.

Places to Consider Visiting

Depending on the length of your stay, you could explore:

  • Sigiriya: Ancient heritage and spectacular views.
  • Kandy: Cultural attractions and surrounding hills.
  • Ella: Mountain scenery, hiking, and tea plantations.
  • Galle: Historic streets, colonial architecture, and coastal views.
  • Mirissa: Beaches, relaxation, and seasonal whale-watching opportunities.
  • Yala National Park: Wildlife safaris and opportunities to see elephants and other wildlife.
For a 3-day trip, it's usually better to focus on one region rather than trying to visit the entire island.

A desert safari with kids is a wonderful way to enjoy Dubai’s natural beauty and introduce your family to the excitement of the Arabian desert. From watching the sunset over the golden dunes to enjoying a short camel ride and traditional camp activities, there is something for the whole family to experience.

Is Desert Safari Suitable for Children?

Yes, a desert safari can be a great family outing, but the right package is important. Families with young children may prefer a relaxed experience with fewer adventurous activities. Dune bashing can be intense, so parents should check the minimum age requirements and safety recommendations before booking.

Children can enjoy sandboarding, camel rides, cultural activities and an evening at the desert camp. Always supervise children around vehicles, dunes and animals.

What Can Families Enjoy During a Desert Safari?

Depending on the package, family-friendly activities may include:

- Camel rides: Give children a taste of traditional desert travel.
- Sandboarding: Let older children try sliding down the sandy slopes with appropriate supervision.
- Sunset views: Enjoy family photos against the beautiful desert landscape.
- Desert camp entertainment: Experience live performances, henna painting and traditional refreshments.
- BBQ dinner: Relax together over an evening meal at the camp.

Tips for Booking a Desert Safari with Kids

Choose a reputable tour operator, confirm child age restrictions and ask whether a private vehicle is available for your family. Bring sunscreen, comfortable clothing and water, and let the operator know if you are travelling with toddlers or infants.

If you prefer a more comfortable trip, consider a private safari so your family can enjoy the experience with greater flexibility.

You step through the imposing gates of Singapore’s Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and immediately feel a sense of calm and wonder wash over you. The ornate red and gold exterior gives way to a serene inner sanctum devoted to worship and reflection. As you gaze up at the largest cloisonné stupa in the world housing what is said to be the actual tooth of Buddha, a feeling of peace and reverence fills your soul.

This trip to Japan was originally meant for relaxation, without much planning. Through a friend’s recommendation, I met Kaori with a casual mindset, but the experience exceeded all expectations. She gave a fresh and natural first impression, even more beautiful than her photos, with a shy yet gentle smile that instantly put me at ease. The overall interaction felt relaxed and unhurried, especially with the 120-minute arrangement, allowing time to chat, rest, and continue naturally. Even though we communicated through a translator, she was attentive and guided the atmosphere well, making everything feel smooth and comfortable. Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable experience, definitely worth revisiting. If you're interested, you can check out yoasobi25 or あいちゃんの夜恋馆.

Yes, summer is one of the best seasons for a Kanha jungle safari, especially for visitors hoping to spot tigers and other wild animals. From March to June, temperatures rise, and animals often gather near water sources to drink, making wildlife sightings more likely. April and May are particularly popular months for safari lovers.

If you are planning a Kanha jungle safari in summer, book your safari in advance and choose an early morning or afternoon drive according to the available timings. Carry light cotton clothes, a hat, sunscreen, and enough drinking water to stay comfortable in the heat. The forest also looks beautiful during this season, offering a memorable experience for nature lovers and photographers. Although tiger sightings are never guaranteed, summer can be a rewarding time to explore Kanha National Park and enjoy its rich wildlife.

Planning a wildlife photography trip to Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is a great way to capture tigers, birds, deer, and other animals in their natural surroundings. Before your visit, choose the right season, check safari availability, and book your pilibhit gypsy safari in advance. Early morning safaris are often a good choice for photography because the soft light creates beautiful pictures of wildlife and forest landscapes.

For a successful wildlife photography trip to Pilibhit, carry a camera with a telephoto lens, extra batteries, memory cards, and binoculars. Wear comfortable, neutral-coloured clothes and follow your guide’s instructions during the safari. Keep your camera ready, as wildlife sightings can happen unexpectedly.

Hey, I'm Devendra Singh, and I created US Travel Spots because I have always dreamed of exploring the United States.

I want to visit its famous cities, beautiful beaches, national parks, small towns, scenic roads, and the hidden places that many travelers never hear about.

While researching America from home, I realized just how many incredible places there are to discover. That inspired me to create my own travel website and share what I learn with other people who love exploring.

I spend time researching each place before writing about it. I look into its history, attractions, unusual facts, and the things that make it worth visiting.

I haven't visited every place I write about yet. That's actually part of my dream. I'm learning about these destinations now, and I hope to visit them myself in the future.

US Travel Spots is my way of exploring America one destination at a time.

If you enjoy discovering interesting places across the USA, I hope you'll follow my journey.

I'm Devendra Singh, and this is just the beginning.
