If you’re looking for ideas on what to do in Birmingham, these spots are a good place to start:
Visit the Bullring for shopping and a quick look at one of Birmingham’s most famous landmarks.
Walk along the canals around Brindleyplace, especially in the evening when the area feels lively.
Explore the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to see local history and classic art collections.
Spend some time in Digbeth, a creative district known for street food, music, and cool independent spots.
Take a trip to Cadbury World if you want something fun and family-friendly.
Relax in Cannon Hill Park, a great place to slow down and enjoy some fresh air.
Check out the city’s restaurant scene — Birmingham has plenty of great places to eat, from casual bites to fine dining.

That’s a solid list! Digbeth is definitely my favorite for the street art and food. The canals at night are also such a vibe.

Birmingham is a great choice for a few days, especially since you’re interested in exploring beyond the usual tourist spots. I think the city is often underrated because people don’t always realise how much history, culture, and character it has.

The canal areas around Brindleyplace are definitely worth exploring, especially in the evening when the atmosphere is lively. I’d also add the Jewellery Quarter to your list it has a really interesting history and some lovely independent cafés and shops.

If you have time for nearby trips, places like Ironbridge, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Warwick can make great additions depending on your interests.

One thing we’ve noticed at GenZ Travel is that many travellers are now looking for more meaningful experiences rather than just ticking off famous attractions, and Birmingham is a good example of a city where taking time to explore local history and culture really pays off.
