What Are the Best Alberta Road Trips for Large Groups?

I’m planning a group trip around Alberta and would love to hear some recommendations from people who have done this before.

What are the best Alberta road trips for large groups? I’m especially interested in scenic routes and destinations that are worth spending a full day or weekend exploring. Places like Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, the Icefields Parkway, and Drumheller are already on my list, but I’d love to hear about some lesser-known spots too.

For larger groups, what transportation options have worked best for you? Did you rent multiple cars, use a van, or choose a charter bus? I’m also curious about which routes are easiest to manage with a group and where you’d recommend stopping along the way.

Would appreciate any suggestions for routes, attractions, stops, and group-friendly destinations across Alberta.

For a large group, I’d definitely recommend the Icefields Parkway, Kananaskis, Banff, Jasper, and Drumheller. If you have extra time, Waterton Lakes and some of the quieter areas around Canmore are also worth exploring.

I’ve found that travelling with a big group is much easier when everyone stays together. We’ve used Go Coach Charters for group trips, and I liked not having to worry about multiple cars, parking, or people getting separated along the way. Everyone could just relax and enjoy the scenery.

For a weekend trip, I’d probably do Banff - Lake Louise - Icefields Parkway and spend a little extra time around Jasper. There are plenty of scenic stops along the way, so I’d avoid trying to rush through it all in one day.
