Travel to Peru

I’ve been reading a lot about Peru lately and it feels like one of those places that’s both magical and a bit complicated right now.

So tourism is coming back, but not fully yet. Around 4.1 million visitors came in 2025, still below pre-pandemic levels, but slowly growing again . At the same time, places like Machu Picchu are dealing with too many people and stricter rules to protect it.

There’s also talk about a new airport near the Sacred Valley that could make getting there much easier, but locals and experts worry it might damage the area . And recently there were some disruptions too like protests and even a train accident on the route, which reminds you things don’t always go smoothly .

But honestly, the stories from travelers still sound amazing.

A friend of mine said arriving at Machu Picchu at sunrise felt unreal, like “you don’t even talk, you just stand there.” Another traveler I saw online skipped the crowds and went to smaller places like the Sacred Valley villages and said it felt more real than the famous spots.

Someone else shared how they got stuck for a day because of transport issues, but ended up eating homemade food with locals in a small town and said that became the best memory of the whole trip.

It feels like Peru is one of those places where things might not go perfectly, but that’s kind of what makes it special.

If you’re thinking about it, I found this while looking around: travel to Peru

curious though, would you go now with all these changes, or wait a bit?
