Just got back from another trip to Trang An Ninh Binh. If you're debating between this and Tam Coc, go to Trang An for the boat tour and Tam Coc for the evening vibes. Trang An is a UNESCO site and much more organized. Here’s the quick lowdown for anyone planning a visit.

The 3 Boat Routes

Tickets are 250k VND. Route 1 has the most caves (9). Route 2 has the Kong film set. Route 3 has the longest cave (1km). Personally, I recommend Route 3 if you want fewer crowds and more time in the long caves. It’s stunningly quiet. Check the Google Maps location before you go—it's about 7km from Ninh Binh city.

Pro Tips

  • Go early: Be there by 7:30-8:00 AM. The tour buses from Hanoi arrive around 10:30 AM and it gets busy.
  • Dress code: You'll stop at temples. Keep shoulders and knees covered or bring a sarong.
  • Mua Caves: It’s a 10-minute scooter ride away. The 500-step climb is tough but the view of the valley is the best in Vietnam.
  • Food: Try the mountain goat! It's a local specialty.

For more logistics, I found this day trip guide really helpful for planning transport from Hanoi. Enjoy the row!
