Hi everyone, I see this question asked a lot by people planning their Vietnam itinerary. As a Swedish expat living here for a decade, I want to give you a realistic comparison between Quy Nhon and Phu Quoc.

Phu Quoc:
Quy Nhon:

If you have a motorbike license, rent a bike in Quy Nhon and drive the coastal road to Bai Xep. It's one of the best experiences I've had in 10 years here. If you just want to relax by a pool and have easy access to western comforts, stick to Phu Quoc.

Quick Comparison
Phu Quoc:
- Best for: Families, luxury travelers, and those wanting convenience.
- Pros: Stunning white sand at Sao Beach, direct international flights, huge attractions like VinWonders.
- Cons: Expensive. Very touristy. Hard to find "authentic" local food without overpaying at places like the Dinh Cau Night Market.
Quy Nhon:
- Best for: Backpackers, couples, budget travelers, and adventure seekers.
- Pros: Quy Nhon is cheap. The seafood is fresh and affordable. Beaches like Ky Co are pristine.
- Cons: Fewer flight options (Phu Cat airport is small). Nightlife is very quiet.

My Recommendation
If you have a motorbike license, rent a bike in Quy Nhon and drive the coastal road to Bai Xep. It's one of the best experiences I've had in 10 years here. If you just want to relax by a pool and have easy access to western comforts, stick to Phu Quoc.
