Just got back from a week in Phu Quoc with my boyfriend. We’ve lived in Vietnam for a while, so we tried to avoid the super touristy traps. Here is a breakdown of what we did, what it cost, and if it was worth it.
1. Long Beach Sunset: Free and classic. We grabbed convenience store beers (20k VND) instead of paying 100k+ at a bar. Best spots are anywhere away from the big resort loungers. If you want a bar, The Haven is decent.
2. South Island Snorkeling Tour: Paid 700k VND/person. Included lunch and pickup. Visited Hon Mong Tay and Gam Ghi. Coral was surprisingly good at Gam Ghi. Worth it to get off the main island.

3. Hon Thom Cable Car: 400k VND round trip. The view is insane. The park on the other side is okay, but the ride itself is the main event. Go on a clear day.
4. Duong Dong Night Market: Touristy but food is legit. Grilled squid was 200k. Great energy. Watch your belongings, but it felt safe. Good for bánh xèo snacks too.

5. Rach Vem (Starfish Beach): 40-min motorbike ride north. Road is bumpy/dirt at the end. Lots of starfish. *Please don't touch them.* Ate lunch at a floating shack (300k/person). Very quiet compared to Long Beach.
6. National Park & Waterfall: Rented a bike (150k/day) to get there. Suoi Tranh Waterfall entry is only 10k. Easy 20-min walk. Good break from the beach heat.
7. Local Spa: Don't overpay at resorts. We found a local place for 400k for 90 mins full body. Check Google Maps reviews before you walk in.
8. Pepper Farm: Visited Khu Tuong. Free entry. Interesting to see the vines. Bought pepper for 150k/bag. Good practical souvenir.
9. Local Seafood Dinner: Found a random spot with plastic chairs. Grouper + hotpot for 2 people was 400k total. Way cheaper than the night market restaurants and felt more authentic.
10. Getting Lost: Best thing we did was just drive the motorbike to Ganh Dau Cape. Found empty beaches. Just wear a helmet and drive slow.

Happy to answer any questions about the trip!
