Include a compact first aid kit, portable charger or powerbank, travel insurance documents, versatile clothing, and a good book. Don't forget a water bottle, copies of important documents, and a small daypack. These items can make your journey safer and more enjoyable.

When packing for a solo trip, items such as a portable charger, a first aid kit, and a lightweight travel towel can be especially helpful. These essentials ensure you stay connected, prepared for minor injuries, and can manage unforeseen situations effectively. Packing smartly enhances the safety and convenience of solo travel, allowing for a more enjoyable experience.

  1. Power bank – Stay charged on the go.
  2. Universal adapter – Essential for international travel.
  3. First-aid kit – For minor emergencies.
  4. Compact backpack – Easy to carry essentials.
  5. Travel lock – Keep your belongings safe.
  6. Offline maps – Navigate without internet.
  7. Multi-purpose tool – Handy for various situations.
  8. Lightweight clothing – Versatile and easy to pack.
  9. Notebook & pen – Jot down important details.
  10. Emergency contacts card – Useful in case of emergencies.

A few things that have been super useful for me, portable charger (absolute lifesaver), a small first aid kit, and a refillable water bottle. Offline maps are a must, especially if you’re exploring places with spotty service. I also always make sure I have an eSIM ready before I land, Jetpac has been solid for that, especially since I don’t have to deal with finding a SIM card on arrival.

Oh, and a good book or a journal! Solo trips always come with unexpected downtime, and it’s nice to have something to unwind with

Also,
SPF - both your usual sunscreen and the one that's easy to reapply in the mountains or on the beach, like stick or spray, pick a waterproof one.
Bug spray - there are gentle formulas, but depending on location, you can get the one that will protect you from nasty things like mites.
Save your most important documents as PDFs to notes/phone files and add all tickets to the wallet app so you can quickly open them.
Band-Aids - easy to forget but essential.
Apple airtags - for baggage and important tech, just in case.
I second the comment about a travel SIM, you can get eSIM when planning your trip and activate it once you've arrived in your destination - I used Ohayu for my recent trips.

Bringing a reusable water bottle is a great tip. Staying hydrated not only saves money and reduces plastic use, but it’s also essential for keeping your body functioning well while you’re on the move. Water plays a big role in energy, focus, and overall health when traveling. This article explains it well https://bottledevents.com/water-does-a-body-good/.

A few other handy items to pack are a small combination lock for securing your bag, a lightweight microfiber towel that dries quickly, and a packable rain jacket for unexpected weather.
