Ybor City is a National Historic Landmark District and one of the best places to visit in Tampa, Florida. Vicente Martinez Ybor, the cigar baron, discovered this city. When he arrived in the area in the middle of the 1880s, the workers at his Key West plant threatened to form a union. Over 4,000 people were employed at the Ybor cigar factory, which manually rolled over 900,000 cigars per month. It was the world's largest. However, the boom came to an end when the Great Depression struck, and most businesses were forced to close as a result of machine rollers.
