Visa free tour to St Petersburg

A visa free tour, also known as a shore excursion, is a comfortable way to get familiar with the Northern capital of Russia without getting a tourist visa. Such an opportunity is available for ferry passengers and those who travel on a cruise line and have a stop in Saint Petersburg sea port.

However, there are several rules to follow:
  1. Allowed period to stay in the country without visa is 72 hours.
  2. It is necessary to sleep on your cruise ship, not in a hotel.
  3. It is possible to travel around St Petersburg with a guided tourist group or with a private licensed guide.
The thing is if you want to have a shore excursion in St Petersburg, you should act with accordance to the pre-arranged schedule and move along the planned route. That route you can agree on with a guide in advance.
You will have a chance to walk freely around the city, but if there are special sights you would like to visit, just express your interests and desires to the guide.
Another moment that I’d like to attract your attention to is that a visa free shore excursion should be booked in advance. It can be a one day or two days tour.
On the first day, you will visit the main city attractions like State Hermitage Museum, Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral, the Winter Palace, Nevsky Prospekt, Spilled Blood Church, St. Isaac’s Cathedral and others. The second day will be about travelling to St Petersburg suburbs - Pushkin (Tsarskoe Selo) or Peterhof.
In summer, you will view wonderful fountains in Peterhof. In autumn, fountains do not work. However, entering Catherine Palace in Tsarskoe Selo and Peterhof is free of charge.
