travel insurance -- worth it?

I'd say yes. 11 day Caribbean cruise in February. My wife got sick and was treated on-board for the remainder of the cruise. Excellent sick bay equipped as an ER. One hour IVs in the morning and the evening.

The $10,500 bill was covered by travel health insurance. And we got the best deal at aardvarkcompare travel insurance marketplace
 
My opinion is that travel insurance in necessary even if you go in neighboring country. Every traveler can pay travel insurance but I am not so sure that every traveler can pay all medical services in foreign country if needed.
