This region offers a fantastic combination of relaxation, adventure, and stunning natural beauty. Here's the breakdown:
- Floating: Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, perfect for a safe and scenic float trip. You can rent tubes, rafts, or kayaks and enjoy a leisurely day on the water.
- Nature & Hiking/Biking: Glacier National Park, just a bit north, boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country. There are plenty of trails suitable for all ages and abilities, from stroller-friendly paths around lakes to moderate hikes with incredible views. You can also rent bikes and explore the charming towns around the lake.
- Horseback Riding: Many ranches near Flathead Lake offer guided horseback riding adventures. This is a fantastic way for the whole family to experience Montana's stunning landscapes on a unique mode of transportation.
- Kids Programs: While I haven't found a single lodge with a dedicated naturalist like the one you mentioned, there are plenty of companies in the area that offer guided hikes and educational programs specifically designed for kids. Glacier National Park also has ranger-led programs throughout the summer that are a great way to learn about the park's ecology and history.
