How many Types of Holi Celebrations in India?

There are 12 different types of Holi celebrations in India, including Lathmar Holi, Dol Jatra, Phaguwa, Rang Panchmi/Shigmo, Yaosang, Baithaki/Khadi, Manjal Kuli/Ukuli, Basant Utsav and Dola. Other forms of Holi celebrated in India include Khadi Holi in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Hola Mohalla in Punjab, Shimga or Rang Panchami in Maharashtra, Royal Holi in Rajasthan, Kumaoni Holi in Uttarakhand and Holla Mohalla in Punjab.
 
India celebrates 7 major types of Holi:


  1. Lathmar Holi – Barsana, women playfully hit men with sticks.
  2. Phoolon Ki Holi – Vrindavan, played with flowers.
  3. Holi with Colors – Nationwide, vibrant gulal celebrations.
  4. Holla Mohalla – Punjab, Sikh warrior-style Holi.
  5. Basant Utsav – West Bengal, cultural performances.
  6. Royal Holi – Rajasthan, grand palace celebrations.
  7. Shigmo – Goa, folk dances and parades.
 
India has several unique Holi celebrations! Lathmar Holi (Barsana), Phoolon Ki Holi (Vrindavan), Dhulandi (North India), Rang Panchami (Maharashtra, MP), Basanta Utsav (West Bengal), Yaosang (Manipur), and Shigmo (Goa). Each has its own charm!
