Experience extremely chill camping in Da Lat at Mimosa Pass area

After several camping trips in crowded areas like Golden Valley or Tuyen Lam Lake, I started looking for more pristine, less-known places to experience closer to nature. And this time, I chose Mimosa Pass – an old road in Da Lat, extremely poetic and peaceful, to try a night of camping in Da Lat that is truly “separate” from the city.

Location & Directions:

  • Mimosa Pass is located right at the gateway to Da Lat (follow the old National Highway 20, from Xuan Truong to the city center).
  • There are many open spaces along the forest edge, about 200–300m from the main road, easy to camp but still private enough.
  • View overlooking the pine forest, some parts overlooking the small stream - extremely chill in the early morning.

Personal experience:

✅ Super cool weather – not too hot during the day, moderately cold at night (~15–17°C)
✅ The air was so fresh and quiet that all you could hear was insects and the wind.
✅ Morning with thin fog, sunlight through the forest - beautiful as a movie scene
I chose to bring all the necessary equipment: a double-layer tent, a mini gas stove, folding chairs, and a tree-mounted flashlight. That night, I simply grilled a few skewers of meat, made coffee, turned on some soft music, and sat watching the mist rise from the hillside.

A few notes if you want to try:
  • It is recommended to go by motorbike or small car, because some of the entrances to the vacant lot are a bit small.
  • Prepare insect repellent and keep warm at night
  • No toilet or service, bring trash bags, keep as clean as possible
  • Suggested group of 2-4 people is ideal - both chill and safe

If you are looking for a place to experience camping in Da Lat at Mimosa Pass , a new place away from the usual places and don’t like too many people. I will come back to this place when I have the opportunity to go to Da Lat next time – maybe to hunt for clouds in the early morning or try camping at a higher point near the top of the pass.
