I was planning my trip to Italy and France for next year, and I had heard about getting Europe’s new visa waiver. But, now it looks like it has been delayed another year? https://www.etiasvisa.com/etias-news/etias-start-date-2024 Does anybody else know if I need to get the ETIAS for my trip next year?
The ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) is set to begin in 2025. This system will require travelers from visa-exempt countries, including the U.S., Canada, and Australia, to obtain prior travel authorization before entering the Schengen Area.
Key details:
Implementation Date: Expected to go live in 2025.
Application Process: Travelers will need to fill out an online application and pay a small fee.
Approval Time: Most applications will be approved within minutes, but travelers are advised to apply at least 96 hours before travel.
Validity: ETIAS will be valid for 3 years or until the passport expires.
The system aims to improve border security and streamline travel to European Union countries.
